Everybody loves sitcoms

Everybody Loves RaymondOkay first, sitcom is a humorous television program based on situations that could arise in everyday life. Sitcom – Situational Comedy. Who doesn't like sitcoms? Well not everyone likes them. Neither did I untill I started watching 'Everybody Loves Raymond' and 'Friends' after returning from work, everyday. Back in the 1990s, when the Indian TV audience was first exposed to western TV or rather cable TV (a.k.a Star Plus, Zee TV and the like) no one knew what soaps and sitcoms were. I seriously got hooked on to the 'small wonder'. It was one amazingly done comedy drama. We liked it so much. And then I watched a few episodes of Friends, ELRaymond as well few years ago when they aired it on Star world (then Star plus).

Recently my friend VS suggested, watching them again and convinced me that they really are good stuff to watch. Especially when I've got a public library next to my apartment which lends me DVDs of popular TV shows and dramas (21 days loan time), free. I said, let me give it a shot. Also because I needed something to watch after I return from work. You need to laugh out loud after some serious geeky work. Okay I do lots of geeky stuff at work. Like I am always asked to achieve things that no where on the web do I get any 'how-to' directions. And it becomes so techie that sometimes I think, I've to start working for Microsoft or Google. Okay I was kidding.

So coming back to these comedies, I've begun to like them. While I like ELR (Everybody Loves Raymond) the best, because it appeals to me more as a meaningful, resourceful comedy than 'Friends'. But I like the 'gallatta' (noise and crowdy feeling) of Friends too. I am sure It's gonna be fun to be with so many friends at once. Wish I had that kinda situation where I live close to all my friends. I know…I know that can only happen in your college days. Funny thing in Friends is that all the guest stars (like Robbin Williams, Ben Stiller) always appear in the show to be annoying kinda characters. Friends never seem to like 'em.

I recommend, people who watched them sometime ago, casually, like me, to watch them again (get those season-wise DVDs) and have a hearty laugh or two.

‘Cars’ is awesome entertainment

Last weekend, Cars (2006), an animated 'cars talking' movie by Pixar animation was released in theatres. How could I miss watching it on the same weekend. By definition, I like watching animated movies, especially the ones by Pixar and Walt Disney's. They are not only good entertainment but also emotionally engaging and possibly take the stress out of your lives atleast for some time. There are always good guys, challenges, friends on the way and winners in all the themes of animated movies. And there's a 'moral of the story'. Most importantly they kinda entertain and gratify your inner child. The kinda stories you liked when you were a kid, the comics and the children's story magazines you used to read. And for me, I feel I've never grown up enough to be considered an 'adult' such that kiddish animated movies make me go – "eeks, you watch kiddish animated stuff?".

Cars the movie

Now then, I am not here to give you a nice professional looking review of 'Cars'. However to quickly wrap up my experience, I would say, I loved the movie. It was awesome entertainment. After a long time (since Toy Story and A Bug's Life) I haven't watched a movie which can beat this one. The characters are likeable, screenplay and plot is enjoyable. Animation is slick and full of bright, fresh colors. I like the shine on the new painted car. Only thing that didn't look great in the movie was the Lightening McQueen (Hero)'s likeability as a character. The character could've been made more likeable. Otherwise the movie is a great entertainer. Don't miss it.

Attempt – one more time

This would be my last attempt at regular blogging. Since 2003, I've been blogging in various capacities, albeit on and off with different blog publishing platforms. The objective has been only one. To muse, to reflect on my thought process, ideas and opinions. Everytime I was serious about it, my job makes me get lesser and lesser time to do things like writing, which needs mental preparedness and solitary time. I've been faced with escapism when it comes to this. So here I am attempting it "one more time".

With increased hunger to "write", "write" and "write", rumination and mental preparedness with solitary time are assumed to aid me in this process.
